TAR UMT contributes to SDG 2: Zero Hunger by fostering a strong culture of compassion, civic responsibility, and social support through structured academic programmes and student-led initiatives. Through sustained fundraising, community outreach, and partnerships with charitable organisations, the university supports vulnerable communities facing food insecurity and socio-economic challenges. These efforts not only provide direct assistance to beneficiaries but also cultivate empathy, social awareness, and responsible citizenship among students.

Through the Civic Consciousness and Volunteerism (CCV) course, TAR UMT actively addresses food security and basic needs by mobilising students to support vulnerable communities. By 2024, CCV initiatives had raised over RM1.5 million cumulatively since 2013, with more than RM500,000 raised between 2022 and 2024 alone, benefiting dozens of organisations such as shelter homes, homes for children and the elderly, indigenous and refugee communities. These student-led efforts not only provided direct support for food access and essential needs but also fostered a strong culture of empathy, social responsibility, and civic engagement within the university community.
