Sustainable Transportation

TAR UMT’s shuttle bus service plays an important role in supporting a low-carbon campus by providing a reliable and shared transportation option for students and staff. By connecting the Kuala Lumpur Main Campus with key residential areas and transit nodes around Setapak and Wangsa Maju, the service helps reduce dependence on private vehicles, ease traffic congestion, and lower greenhouse gas emissions associated with daily commuting. This initiative reflects the University’s broader approach to sustainable campus operations, where accessibility, efficiency, and environmental responsibility are integrated into everyday campus life.

The shuttle service is designed to complement public transport networks and nearby residential developments, enabling safer, more convenient, and more sustainable travel to and from campus. By encouraging shared mobility, TAR UMT supports more responsible travel behaviour while improving overall campus connectivity. Beyond environmental benefits, the service also contributes to social sustainability by enhancing accessibility and affordability for the campus community.

The shuttle routes cover multiple residential and transport hubs, offering convenient access to campus from important locations including:

• Wangsa Maju (including Wangsa Maju Section 2)

• Teratai Residency

• Jalan Genting Klang

• Melati Utama & Melati LRT area

• PV10, PV12, PV13, PV15 & Setapak Central area

These routes are reviewed and managed centrally to ensure clarity, safety, and consistency for users, while providing students to have practical alternatives other than driving therefore support public transit integration, and encourage shared transport habits that contribute to a greener campus.
